4. April Diary

Without doubt the strangest start to season I can remember.

The badger problem's escalated to such an extent that the bowlers run-ups on both sides of the square are un-playable. The interest from the local, national and international press seems ( at this date) to have resulted in the ECB coming to our rescue with a grant to relay turf in the effected areas.

A big thank you to new Chairman Mark Raine for his efforts in getting the press interested, and of course to our very own Oprah Winfrey for fronting our club to the world, well done Paul!!

While all this media coverage dominated the headlines the fact that new net surfaces were being constructed some what flew under the radar. The work took five days to complete and looks to be a nice job. They will take 7 to 10 days to settle in.

Work on the ground came to a halt at the end of March & early April because of the freezing conditions. Rolling and cutting grass was suspended until the 2nd week of April when it appears that Spring has arrived!
