It is said that legends walk amongst us.

Extraordinary reading is the All-Time records for the Cricket Club. And some wonderful new achievements in 2016. Mark Berwick finally topped 5000 runs whilst Waheed Mahroof, Majid Khan and Marty Jaynes both topped the 1000. At the rate Marty is going he could easily top 2000 in 2017. Ben Soames played his 100th innings for the club, whilst it was a big welcome to the 500 run club for Billy Mohammed, Joe McCusker, Jason Phillipson, Adeel Khan and Owen Blackwell. Other new records are in red.

At the top of the table, Neil Burdett continues to stretch his lead over Michael Horwood, with 1,700 runs on 3rd place Paul and then a 3000 run gap to the others. Being old does have it’s advantages...

Those statistics in boxes indicates the impending approach of a milestone in 2017. Can Marty have another great season and score 533 runs. Taz should be able to score 59 by the end of April to reach 1000. Lets keep an eye on these and celebrate properly when they happen.

On the bowling front, Drew and Tim still maintain their unassailable position at the top of the table, though in 2017 it is very likely that Curly (Marc Robinson) will reach an amazing 500 wickets. Andy Milner also needs just 19 wickets to become the 11th person to reach 200 wickets. Zaf, Raz, Brendan and Phil are all vying for a place in the top 20 bowlers of all time, whilst Amit Pau, Majid Khan and Waheed Mahroof should all coast to 100 wickets early in the season.

Congratulations to Brett Harvey and Tom Watson who both took a half-century of wickets in 2016, whilst Maz went to 100 with his final wicket of the year. Brendan Lindsay and Phil Riddlestonalso went past 100 wickets last year.

Whatever anyone achieves, it’s important to remember we are all part of a team and a close knit family at Rickmansworth. The bowlers can’t take wickets without people to catch them, and the batsmen can’t make runs without someone at the other end. Work hard, do your best, play as much as you can, stay loyal and watch yourself make your way up the table. The top 3 batsmen and the top 3 bowlers are still at the club; all it takes is dedication and application. Best of luck for 2017.
