Club Umpire Rob Riddleston talks team attitude, weather, friendlies, and dissent.

"the first team is a really positive and a friendly team compared to the approach in previous years"
- Rob Riddleston, Club Umpire

This weeks thoughts - nice comment from one of the Bushey senior players to me -

"the first team is a really positive and friendly team compared to the approach in previous years".

I told him why!!!

Saturday saw the weather get the better of the 1st team game at Bushey but not before 70 overs had been bowled and everyone had had some good time with bat and ball.

Some nice comments from the opposition about the friendly and
positive approach from the 1st team .

Dissent is always a potential time bomb when a bowler does not get a decision or if a batsman feels they were not out when the finger goes up.

Umpires make mistakes - they are human but my experience shows that umpires make a lot less mistakes than players do in a game! So if you disagree - take a deep breath and move on.

Wednesday saw me attend the Panel Umpires meeting and there are plenty of changes to adapt to - we start off with 50 over games , bowling and fielding restrictions plus the need to bowl 50 overs in 2 hours 50 minutes (plus drinks, injury and lost ball time). This will mean captains and players will need to be really pushing the pace from the start.

Good luck and hopefully the weather is better than the current forecast!
