Search for a Star 2016 has begun

Yes, we have started again with the hugely popular indoor Cricket nets at Rickmansworth School. The start time is 5.45pm, and we will run for an hour.

Last year attendances were a full house every session, and this year is no different, so please arrive early. Those who came last year know just how good these nets are. Other clubs have to share the nets, but thanks to the hard work of the committee, once again we have exclusive use, until the senior Club come in at 6.45pm.

From 5.45pm its the Year 3 to Year 8 boys and girls. Then anyone in years 9 and upwards should come to the Senior practice from 6.45pm to 7.45pm.

The cost is the same as last year - £5 per attendee on the day. Or a single payment of £50 will buy a season ticket.

Non-Members are also welcome to come and try out.

This year we will have Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 teams. Years 4 and 5 will use a soft ball for fun games, whilst anyone interested in hard ball Cricket will play in the Year 6 teams upwards.

Year 6 go to 11-a-side Cricket this year so we need more boys in this age group, as well as more Year 5 and Year 4 children.

Don't worry if you have not got pads and a helmet etc. I have all of those in the club bag. But please remember that to play Hard Ball Cricket you will need a protective box. You can get these from Sports Direct.

FURTHER NOTES

If you are looking for Cricket kit etc. the Club Shop is available at http://www.beatschooluniforms.co.uk/products.php?organisation=RCC&categoryId=7 for branded clothing. I do like boys and girls playing in League matches to have RCC logo kit if possible.

If you want to shop in person for equipment you can try Chorleywood Sports where you can claim your 10% discount as members of Rickmansworth Cricket Club; or I tend to buy things from SportsDirect at Watford Waterfields, as the prices are pretty good.

Online I have used http://www.cricketdirect.co.uk a few times as they are based in St Albans, but they don't have a shop as such. And also take a look at Newitts http://www.newitts.com/cricket who I find are the cheapest for most things.

Finally, to access the new sports hall, you drive down through the left hand side of the school and follow the new road all the way down to the new Hall. The School is at the top of the Hill as you head down to the Cricket Club. WD3 3AQ
