After playing two evenly matched teams in Abbots Langley and West Herts, it was a pity that Watford Town bent the rules a little and put out their Area U13 team in what was effectively the deciding game of the series. Ricky by contrast were on average 2 years younger, and in the case of Jake, some 5 years more Junior.

Ricky batted first and the lad with the longest beard opened the bowling for Watford. The first few overs were carnage as Ricky struggled and only Louis Mangan (13) and Harvey (12) got any fluent time at the crease. Iwan scored a decent 10 and Ethan Ashby took the gold award with a magnificent straight 6. The only one scored in the whole 3 week tournament. Ricky could only muster 50 - 7 but did try very hard.

The bowling on the Ricky side was very straight and Bilal bowled 2 overs for 7 runs. Louis bowled 2 for 9 runs as did Harvey. Iwan conceded 7 runs in his 2 overs and Ethan bwoeld 2 wides, whilst 9 year old Jake only went for 1 run in his 6 balls. However, with extra's the Watford Town boys finished on a comfortable 79/0 to win by 29 runs.

Over the three games our boys did brilliantly against the older age groups and to finish in 2nd place in the table was quite an achievement.

Indoor nets continue for another 3 weeks and then the outdoor season begins.
