SHCL update

As those following the club Facebook page will already know, there was an AGM of the Saracens Herts League last night which was attended by 90% of the clubs in our League. There were a few changes to League Rules discussed and the key ones which affect us in 2017 are as follows:

All teams in the Regional Divisions (Our 4th XI) will now only play limited over Cricket, exclusively. 40 overs per side, the team with the most runs wins. No more hanging on for a draw by the weaker teams. So hopefully games will finish even earlier. And if there is rain in the air then bat second - every time!

A vote was taken to reduce games in the Divisions in which our 2nd and 3rd teams reside, proposing to move those games to 90 overs a game, from the current 100. This was voted out by 37 votes to 35. We voted in favour of the change. So there is effectively no change to the rules from last year

The 1st XI rules remain exactly the same as well.

Finally, the League registration now requires a date of birth for every player. So we will need to collect this from everyone. If you already have a login to this website, then you can add this against your profile in order to save collection time for Brendan and I.

It is officially Spring tomorrow. So make sure you come to some indoor net sessions and bring those new players as well. We must make an assault on promotion for as many teams as we can this year.
