Rain falls to ruin Ricky Parade

4 wins last week turns into a damp squib this week

All the games got started by Rickmansworth senior teams yesterday, but only one game made it through to a natural conclusion.

The First XI looked set for a big total with 62/2 on the board after 13 overs, and assumingly weaker bowlers to come. Taz (20) and Bobby (11) had a 30 run partnership going, after some good shot play by Sohail (26) before the rain came down and curtailed the innings. A score of 200+ was on the cards against one of last years weaker teams.

The Second XI were up against one of the strongest teams in the Division, but were still disappointed to be 6/3 after Kasser gloved one to the keeper and Lekshay and Faisen both fell to good inswinging deliveries from the rather quick South African of Botany Bay. When Raz was run out and Waheed bowled for 8, it was only Paul (inevitably) who was scoring runs and who had 25 of the 40/5 on the board. Ronesh batted well before nicking behind and then on 77 Paul was bowled for 44. Waseem then dug in to take Paul's place and with Kamran (14) and Naeem (9) was able to inch the score to 119.

It would take a monumental effort with the ball to win from there, but Ronesh was in his element and teaked out 2 of the top 3, whilst the big saffer was run out by a direct throw from Waheed. Top stuff. But much like Ricky, one opening bat was there to stay for Botany and so it was a pity he was dropped off Taqadas's second ball. But chances come and go and Taqadas did get a maiden wicket and Waheed did too, but the no7 kept Marchant company as they cruised home by 5 wickets.

The 3rd XI also dug deep and were on 50/2 after 29 overs, just about ready to launch, when the rain finally got too heavy. Soames on 23* and McGill on 16 at a scoring rate of 0.33 (no IPL contract for you Trigger!).

The 4th XI were definately on top, having OLd Minch at 60/5 when the groundsman marched onto the pitch and removed the bails. Prasanth had 3-13 and Callum Watson-Humphreys his first wicket for the club, when Mr Grumpy stopped play. It wouldn't happen at Lords....

Weather forecast is set better for next week everyone
