What's happening this week

It’s a busy week ahead at Rickmansworth as work on the grounds continue to get them in perfect shape for the games to come. The grass keeps growing in these hothouse conditions.

Tonight (Wednesday) the U15 team take on Northchurch at 6pm on the main square. Whilst tomorrow night, the U11 team are at West Herts hoping to repeat their victory of last week.

The 4th XI take on a new team in Old Minchendenians 2nd XI, who are based in the beautiful village of Minchenden (not really – they are based in Southgate!). They were bowled out for 122 chasing another new teams score of 192, last week. So really we have no idea as to their relative strength.

The 3rd XI play their first game at home against Frogmore 2nds. Frogmore are a team on the up, and they won Regional Div West A last year. Last week they bowled out Datchworth for 96 and then reached the target by one wicket. Perhaps it’s fair to assume they may have some decent bowlers.

Our 2nd XI travel to Botany Bay. Last year Botany Bay were relegated from the Championship…but to fall all the way down to Division 7B is quite a relegation. So no doubt they will have some good players at this level and the fact they won by 150 runs on Saturday is rather telling. The 2nd XI will have to be at their best.

The 1st XI play Old Finchlieans. Last year we chased down 247 to beat them in June, http://www.rickmansworthcc.co.uk/teams/82958/match-centre/1-2702699, Maz scoring 93, and then were bowled out for just 76 at home in the last but one game of the season, with a rather weakened batting line up (I can say that as I was in the team) http://www.rickmansworthcc.co.uk/teams/82958/match-centre/1-2703890 . This is a game that Ricky 1st XI could win if we bat like the first game and not the last one.

There is also another home game for the Sunday XI, playing under the name of Batchworth. If anyone would like a game then let Brendan know and we can pass the details on.

Good luck to all Ricky teams this week
