U10 and U14 teams top Local Divisions

The development of young players at Rickmansworth continues to go from strength to strength as 2 of our League teams top their respective divisions with just a few matches to go in the initial League section.

Teams finishing as Champions, plus the top 3 in second place, make it through to the Quarter-finals.

In 2009 our very first Colts team, made the quarter finals of the u10 championship before losing to St Albans. 4 years later the u10 team of that year, again captained by a Blackwell, made the entire final, beating Boxmoor in the semi-final and then won the County Championship beating Watford Town in the final.

In the same year, 2013, the Ricky u13 team also made it to the final and brought home the cup as Champions. Last year the u14 B team reached their own final but lost to Dunstable after a spirited effort, captained by Raunak.

Each year we see a crop of young players come through to our Senior teams, but I also see a lot of boys fall away. It really helps when they can meet and get coaching from the Seniors, and this year it has been great to introduce Taz, Phil, Oz and Tom, for example, to the boys. But we have to do more. We cannot have Under 18 boys playing with a group of strangers and frankly, it seems crazy that we would have a situation where our stars of the future only know one or two of the actual Rickmansworth players by name.

So please ask how you can help. Come and watch a game or two and help to encourage the boys on the same journey that we all took when we first picked up a bat and ball and thought "this is the game for me". You would be very welcome.
