Plenty to play for in the last few games

DIVISION FOUR

Rickmansworth kept up their challenge for promotion with an 8 wicket win against Ampthill Town. Majid Khan did most of the damage with 6/33 as Ampthill were restricted to just 128. Rickmansworth then showed how good the batting track was in scoring 131/2 in just 18 overs. Chris Morris was particularly destructive with 68 whilst Marty Jaynes scored 36. Ricky realistically need to win 2 of the last 3 games now, to try and edge into the top 4, starting with a win on Saturday against Datchworth.

DIVISION SIX

Rickmansworth 2nd XI drop to the bottom of the division after an 8 wicket defeat to Ickleford II. Only Ajay Thakur (16), Benn Glazier (18) and Jonathan Cox (37) seemed to have any idea with the bat as 5 Ricky batsmen scored ducks and they could only set a meagre 95 all out. Ickleford cruised to their target for the loss of just 2 wickets, which seems to condemn Ricky to Division 7 Cricket next year, barring a miraculous last 3 games.

DIVISION NINE

Rickmansworth 3rd XI climbed out of the relegation zone with a win at Hatfield III’s on Saturday. Ronesh Nathwani starred with the ball taking 5-38, which combined with 3 high class catches by Mark Raine and Rory Cusack, kept Hatfield to 158/9. Paul Blackwell (23) and Rory Cusack (18) gave Ricky the perfect start which Ben Soames (43*) and Bobby Shome (44) then took Ricky to the winning score of 159/3.

DIVISION TWELVE

With Rickmansworth 4ths opposition conceding, a friendly match with Berkhamsted was instead arranged. Rickmansworth were led by 15 year old Owen Blackwell who appropriately top scored with 24, but couldn’t stop his team losing by 40 runs. Berko scored 127, waheed taking 4 wickets, whilst Ricky fell to 87 all out.

SUNDAY

Rickmansworth took on local rivals Croxley Guild on Sunday, but the game was a little one-sided as Ricky rattled up 227 (Callum Cusack 45, Stuart Darbyshire 52 and Andy Bird 70) and then dismissed their village rivals for just 81. Andy Bird rounded off the perfect day for himself with figures of 5-15 in just 6 overs.
