Chris the Groundsman has been hard at work already and the outfield mower has been reduced by a further 3/4 inch. Already the grass is looking even shorter ready for the coming games. Also the rolling continues. If anyone is free during the day and can lend a hand to sit on the tractor or roller then just contact me and I will engage you on the grounds The more we do now, the better.

On Monday the Under 11 team start their League campaign away to West Herts. It's looks a bit like one Jumper weather which is a pity after all the lovely sun we have enjoyed. This is this age groups first hard ball experience and proper 11 a side rules. It will be a great experience for them. Match starts at 5.30pm and any supporters would be welcome (as indeed they are at any game)

On Wednesday it's adult nets time, though you are also welcome to use the nets on Tuesday as well this week as there are no other plans.

On Thursday we have two lots of matches. The U15 team, comprising the likes of Harvey, Tahir and Bilal, take on Berkhamsted on the main square. On the top square the Under 9 team play their very first league game, also against West Herts. For either of these games it would be great if I had an umpire. Both games start at 5.30pm. It's impossible for me to do both games so any help would be hugely appreciated from someone who knows the rules of Cricket.

Finally on Friday it is the turn of the U14 team to take on Shenley Village at Rickmansworth's Park Road. And then all the Junior teams will have started their campaigns.

Also, on Friday night Rob Riddleston has also offered to run a free workshop at the club on the new League and ECB rules. And there are a lot of changes that affect what we all know about the laws and rules of the game. Mankadding, no balls, methods of dismissal have all changed. If we know the rules we can use them to our advantage. So lets support Rob and try and be there please. It will be no more than an hour I expect.

On Saturday it is the turn of the grown-ups (!) as we face Wooburn Narkovians, of the Thames Valley League, in a 1st team fixture at home, with the 2nd team travelling to the beautiful Ley Hill of the Chiltern League. Yes, the fixtures have swopped around, but having looked at the leagues these teams play in, it's quite possible that the Narkovians may be the stronger match-up against our 1st XI. I guess we will know for sure at 7.30pm on Saturday.

So a busy week ahead. Here's hoping for a few victories for the Green and Gold
