Well the Ashes series is a rollercoaster - dominance by one side then the other. My wife asked me after the 1st day at Edgbaston why are England so good then bad then good again . My answer was clear - i have no idea! Perhaps some favourable swing bowling conditions helped on Wednesday but in truth the answer it’s the beauty of sport that makes us all love and play the game.

I am looking forward to standing with the Colonel on Saturday at Hemel – the dream team in action as I told him.

Its been a tough few weeks on the playing field for the Club but it was good to see some good scores from Coops and young Owen to help restore some pride. Playing 100 overs requires application and consistency and plenty of concentration with bat and ball – and when in the field. I think fielding is one area the club needs to tighten up on as the old saying goes – catches win matches.
