Ricky downed by Old Finches

In a must win game, Ricky were once again asked to bat first, which meant we had to post a decent total. But it wasn't to be as the Ricky batsmen became a procession, playing shots not well suited to the conditions or our League position. After Maz went for a duck, Waheed and Paul set about repairing the damage and reached 26 before Waheed got himself out. But this sparked a mini-collapse as Tahir went for 0 and the Paul was bowled out middle stump for 13. Raunak and Majid again pushed the score up to 51 before Majid got out and Ronnie followed soon after, again for a 0. Brett Harvey scored a fluent 16, but there the highlights finished as more ducks were to follow and Ricky were dismissed for a paltry 76.

One thing this Ricky side has going for it is a strong will to fight back and when Majid and Phil got in amongst the early wickets it seemed like a victory might be possible. However the Old Finchlieans skipper stood firm and despite a few more wickets, he seemed to be taking them to victory. He gave one sharp chance when on 12, to the keeper but after that he coasted home on 77/6.

In the last 2 season Ricky have been relegated on the last day of the season and it looks like history will repeat itself again unless Ricky can beat Bovingdon on Saturday. Anything but a win and less than 12 points and Ricky are done for. yet again. So the best of luck to everyone involved.
