By Maz Shah

Rickmansworth travelled to Old Chols on saturday on another glorious sunny day to see if they could make it 8 wins in a row

Skipper Maz Shah won the toss and as is his normal plan decided to bat and asked his bowlers to have a rest while the batsmen did what they do best.

The now regular opening partnership of Maz Shah and Taz Shehabi opened they have amassed 556 runs in partnerships at an average of 55.6 with a strike rate of well over a 100!

unfortunately they only made 13 in his particular game as Maz was out for 9 to what can only described as very lucky day for the bowler when he bowled a delivery down the leg that the skipper tried to work around the corner but top edged somehow to square leg.

Taz and Shami went about blasting old chols bowlers to all parts as they put up a partnership of 148 runs in 17 overs!

Shami being severe on anything loose and Taz continuing on in his amazing season, Taz was first out on 65 to one that popped on him a bit. shami then took the team score to 200 with another good partnership with young Tahir who was looking impressive. Tahir was out next for 24 to a ball that should have been called a no-ball for being at chest height but it was never called.

Shami was finally out for 84 missing out on a well deserved 100 but he is looking in fine form and should pass 500 runs this season for the 1's

Ibby and Toqeer were at the crease, truth be told Ibby is still not at is fluent best but he is showing glimpses and no doubt will come good for the next 6 games which are vitally important.

Toqeer made a lovely 50 with seriously good timing! we were on 300 runs after 40 overs and looking good for 400 with 10 overs left but some bad shot selection and bad calling/running meant a mini collapse and we finished on 324 in 43 which is our highest score this season but we should have batted the full 50!!

So old chols would try to chase down 324 for victory but in reality we knew they would have a little go but our bowling is too strong, we give old chols huge credit for coming out all guns blazing and hitting majid at 10 runs an over and toqeer at 5 runs an over which does not happen!!

the first wicket blazed to 71 off 9 overs, the skipper turned to his spinners cookie and mazafar, they reduced old chols from 77-0 to 118-6 in the space of 12 overs! mazafar finished on 10 0vers 4-23 and cookie 8 overs 2-28

old chols out for 142 for a one sided game

skipper said after the game " that is 8 wins in a row which ricky have not done for the past 10 years at least! we are now at the business end of the season, this team are playing some real good cricket and it's a delight to captain them but we must continue to play good cricket and win the next 6 games"
