In our final game of Round 1 we play a team we have never faced in the last 22 years. 10 years ago, Broxbourne III were in Division 11, however their steady climb up the league has seen 4 promotions in 10 seasons and saw them comfortably win Division 8 in 2014. Last season was not so good with 10 losses as they finished just above the relegation places. This year they have beaten Radlett and Potters Bar, but still find their lack of bonus points when losing has put them nearer the bottom of the table. In fact, in what is proving to be a very competitive league, they have only won one less game than Rickmansworth and are just 35 points behind.
With the bat, only 4 people have scored a half-century for Broxbourne III this year, however you can never rule out players joining from the 2nd team, as Broxbourne teams typically get stronger as the season progresses. Their wickets have been spread around. But early wickets for Ricky would certainly make it harder for them to score heavily. Its a small ground so either win the toss and score big to enable a declaration, or chase whatever Broxbourne score. Either way, it's been a few weeks since the Ricky team tasted victory and a win is the minimum that can be expected this Saturday.
