Losing the toss Rickmansworth III’s were put into bowl by Star cc in another twelve-a-side game, Rickmansworth being given one of Star’s spare players.
The bowling started off tight with Star’s A Singh (5-1-16-1), Brendan Lindsay (5-1-10-2) and Sean Lindsay (5-1-17-1) removing the top order. Once again the colts stepped up to the mark with Alex Lee (5-1-15-1) adding to his last week’s tally. Joe Monk (5-0-22-1) finally got some reward for some excellent bowling with his first senior wicket. While Ronak Khanguja (6-0-20-4) in his maiden senior game disposed of the middle order. Unfortunately, some lusty hitting from Star’s tail and more dropped catches gave them a total of 180.
After tea Rickmansworth were grateful for Star’s 12th man with A Singh top scoring with 48. For a second week a guest player scored more than half the team’s runs, extras making the second highest score. Rickmansworth will have to improve their patience at the crease once the season begins.
The game ended in the rain and gloom but Star cc were a friendly team, who played in a great spirit and who ensured that both teams enjoyed the day.
On a final note I would remind players that the match does not finish when you cross the boundary and everyone is expected to help clear the pitch and the tea.
