Match Report by Ashwin Karthik

Two wins games back to back and the 4s are on fire !! With the weather set fair and a feel of the 4s from a few years back with Neil, Rumpy, Matt, Ray and Ken playing, Ricky decided to bat first.

Phil after a great innings the week before opened the batting. What Phil did forget from the week before is that you need to use your bat to connect the ball! His first ball, Phil (or the Statue) decided to leave the ball and was bowled! Ray didn’t add much to the score. Neil and Matt were looking good, rotating strike and had many extras in their partnership, but Matt decided to play an ugly cross batted shot and was bowed with the middle stump flying. Neil went shortly after for 8 given to a ‘dodgy’ LBW. Ashwin also went quickly.

In came Hitamsh and Naz who went to work guns blazing smashing Leverstock Green's bowlers until Naz fell after a decent partnership. Nas left of from his previous innings, showing no respect to bowlers and smacking the ball to the boundary scoring 30. At the other end, Hitamsh was playing some lovely shots rotating strike and scoring 55 in the process a fantastic innings. The lower order also contributed, Rumpy even took a casual single, whilst pulling a muscle. Ken who hasn’t had much luck with the bat scored 6 until being run out. In the end Ricky ended up with 163 an excellent score.

With Neil repeatedly reminding the 4s of certain promises that people had to keep (names censored), Leverstock Green batsman came out to bat. Opening Bowlers Nas and Hanuman went to work, bowling amazing spells making the batsmen find it near impossible to score any runs. After picking up 3 wickets in their spells the bowling was passed onto Ashwin and Karthik this duo continued to keep it tight with many maiden overs between them. Ashwin was able to pick up 2 wickets in his spell. The ball was then passed to Phil and Hitamsh who were able to take a wicket as Hanuman and Ashwin took their catches. Neil then mopped up the tail taking 3 quick wickets to ensure a comprehensive win for Rickmansworth.

Game played in great spirit, hopefully they can go onto win 3 in a row.
