Match Report by: Ken Brown (Captain)

After a dry morning drizzle started before the start time. After waiting it was agreed to start 30 minutes late but not curtail the overs. Ken won the toss and choose to bat, all 4 victories this season have been from batting first. This was a changed team as some of our regulars were helping the 3s.

It continued to drizzle for another hour, with a tricky bounce making batting difficult. The openers started slowly, but were then undone. The middle order was held together by Ubaid (28) and Hanuman (17). Ubaid looking strong managed to be LBW to a very slow ball, the only issue for the umpire was whether the ball had enough speed to reach the stumps! Then another loss of wickets. This was followed by a good sensible last wicket partnership between Devansh (12) and Neil Burdett (13 not out) which took us to a low but defendable total of 96.

However the Redbourn openers clearly had somewhere to be as they were attacking the ball. Despite good opening bowling from Hanuman and Yusuf who took a wicket each there were some dropped catches, they raced to 50 before the first wicket fell. Then 2 bowlers were given their Ricky bowling debuts. Awais and Robin, both bowled well with Awais taking his first Ricky wicket. Ricky as always fielded and bowled well until the last ball, however the game was already gone. Redbourn chased the total down in 19th over with the loss of 3 wickets.

Despite the loss, the team morale remains high and hopefully a return back to winning ways this weekend!
