After a tough loss the previous week, the 4s were eager to bounce back with a win. With the sun shining down on the pitch Captain Yusuf won the toss and decided to bat first.

First out to the crease were last week’s opening pair, Ray and Phil. Sadly for Ray, he could not get going with the highlight of his innings being injuring the child keeper as he ran him over trying to get runs on the board. Graham was up next but did not stay in for long as he was caught for 3 runs. At no.4 came Prasanth looking to replicate his spectacular performance from last week. Both him and Phil kept the board slowly ticking along until Phil was caught for a solid 25 in the 12th over. Next to the crease was Callum, who was caught for an unlucky duck off a top edge. At 6 was Yusuf who was bowled for a quick 3. Anuj walked out to the crease next and was looking to increase the run rate. Halfway into the innings, and we were looking at a score of 81. Both Prashanth and Anuj formed an outstanding partnership of over 100 runs by knocking some wonderful shots and boundaries, or in Prashanth’s case, jogging 1s and 2s. Eventually, Anuj was bowled for 65, bringing an end to the partnership and his magnificent innings. Not long after, Prashanth was finally caught for an excellent 61 runs. Hanuman and Ronesh both played some great shots bringing up 200 on the board. Hanuman was run out in the final over, trying to pick more runs. Keshav walked in at no.10 and hit a 6 on his first ball to bring the final score to 227.

A fantastic 1st innings from the 4s, however, the job was not yet finished. Hanuman and Keshav opened the bowling, putting early pressure on the batsmen by keeping the runs to a minimum and picking up wickets. Hanuman was unlucky to not pick up more than his 3 wickets after some excellent bowling. Keshav picked up 1 wicket after some good deliveries. Replacing them were Anuj and Yusuf. Both of them started well with Yusuf taking his first wicket in his 3rd over. In Anuj’s 4th over, he achieved the bowler's dream of a hattrick. He got his first wicket when the ball popped up to him and his second was a beautiful delivery that hit the top of the middle and off stump. With the excitement of his hat trick ball, everyone closed in on the batsmen waiting for the ball to chip up to them. The batsmen came down the wicket looking to slog the ball but ended up edging the ball behind to Neil, who took a tough catch to bring up the hattrick. Anuj and Yusuf both claimed one more wicket each to seal the deal which brought an end to a terrific game of cricket for the 4s. With a remarkable all-around performance from Anuj and a great team effort. We go into next week looking to win the final game this season.
