Ricky beat Abbots U9 by 30 runs

Abbots boys stung by Jasper
Abbots U9 chose to bat first and the boys got off to a flyer with Jasper taking two wickets in his first 2 overs. (2-5) Toby also bowled well and after 4 overs ALCC were just +4 on the board. Then big Ben came to the crease and carted the bowling around, including 4 successive fours and a mighty 6. Luckily both Josh and Oliver stuck to their lines and both got Ben out meaning -10 for his team. At +34 after 8 overs, Ricky could have been chasing 260+ to win.
However Lucas got a wicket and Arno kept it tight for the next 4 overs and only conceded 12 more runs. 242 was the score and ALCC needed a big finish. However Alec got a wicket and then Freddie 2 more to curtail the innings with no addition to the score. Freddie finished with 2-10
Things could have been so much better with at least 5 catches going down, maybe more, but overall the bowling was good with just 1 no ball or wide per over, on average.
Any fears of an Abbots fightback were soon allayed as Jaspar opened his shoulders for a huge 4 in his 2nd over that only just bounced inside the ropes. He and Toby ran well and put on 19 for the first partnership, losing only one wicket. Consolidation was the keyword and Josh and Ollie did even better than that. Their partnersip of 31 was the highest of the game and took Ricky over the +50 mark. Lucas and Arno were brilliant in taking few chances and only losing one wicket, as they also finished on +8. Freddie and Alec then professionally finished the job with Freddie smacking a nice leg side 4 and Alec following suit. They scored 12 off the bat with 2 extras, meaning Ricky finished on +72 for a comprehensive victory.
The watching crowd were jubilant as the boys celebrated winning 2 on the bounce for the first time ever. memories of last season when they only got one win in total were soon banished.
