Ricky u11 in rare tie against Chorleywood

The first edition of the Robinson-Dare trophy in 2023 turned out to be a real thriller as 2 evenly matched teams slugged it out on the Common.

Ricky batted first but were in early trouble as Seb (1) and Adam (0) both departed early, whilst Harry kept up one end. Aryan got 2 and at 20/3 Ricky were in a familiar batting position to the last game. However Sam started brightly and the extras kept mounting up in our favour. Harry was out for 7, making it 3 wickets for Brighu, before Aadi stole the show with a dashing 24.

With extras finally reaching 50, Dishan (3) and Zac (4) also scored runs to enable Ricky to post 103 in 20 overs. A defendable score.

Seb got a wicket with his first ball, whilst Dishan bowled 3 overs for 4 runs. Aryan then got 2 further wickets and Chorleywood were struggling a little. Some good partnerships enabled Chorleywood to reach 69 for 5 off 13 overs, and 35 was needed off the last 42 balls. Aadi took 1-12 in 3 overs and the other bowlers also contributed well. Perhaps the star being Harry who kept well behind the stumps.

The final over was chaos as Chorleywood needed 9 to win. Some scrambled singles, an overthrow and a wide meant that 1 run was needed off the last ball. But Harry bowled a dot and it was a TIED GAME. Which does not happen often!

Generally Ricky showed great team play and were unlucky not to win. The home fixture will be a humdinger…
