To parents of boys in Year 10, Year 9 and Year 8
Hello again and welcome to 2019 !
Hope everyone had a good break over the Christmas and New Year period. As you know, the Herts Junior League (HJL) decided to stop B League games, after the farce of last years competition with West Herts. So we have entered the only League available to us, the A League.
We have been drawn against West Herts, Shenley Village, Radlett and Chorleywood. It feels like we are Watford FC being asked to play in the Champions League, but I know our boys won’t be backing down in the face of strong opposition and it will be good for us to test our skills.
Strangely enough, I know that some of the current U15 team who have been playing on Saturdays and Sundays have found the games to be fairer and more even. So I encourage all Year 10 (and Year 9) boys to give Saturday or Sunday Cricket for Rickmansworth a go. We have fixtures every week and the younger boys are always given every opportunity to take a full part in the games. Callum, Harrison and Yash have all performed well and been a key part of the team. Alongside this, after a number of years in the 1st and 2nd teams I have chosen to drop down to Captain the 3rd XI this year, to ensure the younger players get every chance to develop their game with people they know. Ken will be captain of the 4th team again (I hope)
To keep up the exercise and skills routine, we start indoor nets at Rickmansworth School from next Sunday (27th) This is from 1.15pm to 2.30pm. It’s the best local facility. At this age group the boys may well be sharing with some of the 3rd and 4th team players. Cost is £5 a session and I hope as many of the boys as possible will be able to make some of the sessions.
As always, any questions or comments, please email me
Best regards, Paul
