U15 Ricky cruise past Northchurch
Tahir posts a big one again
Winning the toss, Ricky skipper Harvey chose to bat first however he didnt expect to lose Rahim in the first over caught rather tamely. However young Yash Ruparelia then supported Tahir in an unbroken stand of 64, Tahir crashing 5 fours and 3 sixes in his 44 before he had to retire not out. At 73/1 after 10 overs, Ricky were looking at 140+, however despite a well crafted 20 (before he was caught at square leg) and Yash getting out for 24 (after some sumptuous shot play), the remaining batsmen were perhaps a little sedate and scored 48 off the remaining 10 overs. Still, 121 was probably going to be enough.
Harvey's first two overs went for just 6, whilst Bilal conceeded a 6, but then got their best batsman with a quicker ball, the very next ball. Well bowled. After 6 overs, Northchurch were on 23/2, with young Rory getting a wicket 2nd ball, and Yash got a wicket with the first ball of the 7th. 99 runs to win off 84 balls. Rory's 2nd over went for 12, but his 3rd over for just 3 to make for a successful spell, whilst spinner Callum picked up a wicket in both his first two overs, including a very smart stumping by Fred Maggi. Northchurch were fading away on 52/5 after 12 overs.
70 needed off 48 balls. Tahir then bowled a very, very quick over and spread the stumps of number 7, and the fat lady started her warm ups. Hamish bowled well without reward and then, in the increasing gloom, Harvey turned to spin and got a wicket and the a run out ensued. Only 20 runs came off the last 5 overs as Joel for Northchurch scored a solid 43, but he was unable to garner support from any of the others. The game petered out as Ricky coasted home with plenty in the tank
