Toss won by Ricky

After last weeks disappointing display, the skipper asked the team to character and their talent that he keeps telling everyone about, after winning the toss Maz decided to have a bat on a dry hard wicket.
Maz Shah and Taz Shehabi opened the innings in their usual style of hitting boundaries and quick singles when they were on offer.
Maz being severe on all the bowlers and hitting the ball to the fence at will! Ricky raced to 40 off 8 overs but then a controversial LBW decision against Maz on 28 when he was well down the wicket but such has been his luck this season! seems like umpires no longer care if you are outside the line of off-stump or 3 yards down the wicket.

Bobby then joined Taz and together they put on a steady partnership, Bobby taking his time as he has been a little undercooked this season but looked solid, Taz made his way to 31 before he lost concentration and was bowled but the run rate was good. Waqas joined Bobby and together they rattled along at 5 runs an over. Waqs when settled hit the ball clean and well over the sight screen, making 45 with 5 huge sixes! it was a great sight to see and finally the team were delivering on the vision of their skipper.

Bobby made his way to 35 before he too lost concentration and played rash stroke, Ricky were well set for a target of 300+ but we lost a few silly wickets in the middle order. Waqas was out for 45 but he should have converted this to a century and will be kicking himself.

Tahir, Toqeer and Majid failed to deliver in the middle and this put us on the back foot and we were maybe looking at 180! which would have been criminal but Waheed Mahroof making his debut showed real composure in the middle and put on decent partnerships with Adeel (6), Brett Harvey (10) Mazafar (6) it was enough to get us to 221 with Waheed finishing 14 not out. We did not bat our full 50 overs which did not please the skipper!

The orders from the skipper to the bowlers were simple, bowl straight as the bounce was getting uneven and pitch was taking big spin. Majid and Toqeer started well but they were not getting much out of the lifeless wicket and Cockfosters made a decent start losing their first wicket at 41 bowled by the Magic man Majid. What then followed was a bad run out by the oppo losing their 2nd wicket on 44. Then the ripper dipper Zaf Shah came on and got to work on a dry wicket that was offering turn. He reduced cockfosters from 44-2 to 80-6 in no time with some lovely bowling attacking the stumps all the time, Brett the hit man Harvey came on and showed everyone why he is in the 1's. He bowled some amazing yorkers ala waqar younis! toe crushers taking 3 quick wickets to finish on 3-20 of 6 overs Zaf finishing on 4-19 of 10 overs.

Skipper said after the match " it was a decent win especially after we let ourselves down last week, the boys got a dressing down last week and were keen to take it out on the next team we faced. They showed brilliant cricket in parts but it was not a perfect performance, we should have got 300+. The middle order have to step up next week and i know they can as they are very talented"
