Ricky 1sts dominate with bat and ball

It was a cool cloudy day but the wicket looked good so after winning yet another toss , captain Maz Shah elected to bat , with a batting order bolstered by the return of Ricky legends Ibrar "Ibby" Hanif and Shammi Hussein.

Ricky got off to a blast with three 4s from Maz. Redbourne looked a bit shell shocked as fielders were rushed around to try and stem the onslaught . After 6 overs Ricky were approaching 50 with Taz and Maz scoring freely until Maz was bowled off an inside edge.

Next in was Sohail "The Gazelle" Bashir. Taz now took over the role of big hits whilst Hailey provided an anchor, the score ticked along nicely with Taz eventually hitting out on 64. Ibby then joined Hailey and they took the score 165 before the next wicket fell. Shammi , Toqeer came and went all contributing a few runs each .

Majid Khan was in next and in typical fashion clubbed the ball over the bowlers head for a few boundary's eventually getting out for a quick 22. The Total score was now 231 for 6with only 3 overs left and the last 4 wickets fell in quick succession as batsmen tried to get as many as possible. Final Score 252 all out after 50 , with top scores from Taz 64, and Hailey with 59.

After tea and with the help of "BOOST" Energy drinks (provided by Maz Shah), the team went out ready to win.

Majid Khan opened and had the opening bat LBW on the very first ball of the innings, things were looking good. After Majid had gotten number 3 bowled the batsmen seemed to dig in a bit . The opening left hander particularly taking to Brett Harvey who went for 27 after 5 overs.

It was time for Maz to change things up and on came the young Toqeer Hussain, who only after his second over got the breakthrough eventually finishing with 3 wickets (all bowled). "Cookie" Latif then came on and clean bowled the number 6 batsmen . Ricky were now on top and Redbourne were 68 for 6 and it looked like they may be all out for under 100.

But the two Redbourne u19s, Jack Blair and Joe Dinwoodie settled the ship and started to play themselves in and frustrated the Ricky bowlers, Mazzaf Shah was on to try and break the partnership, but it was a good catch from Majid off Cookies bowling that eventually got the break through with the score on 128 for 7.

Ricky now immediately began to attack the new batsmen. Mazzaf bowled well to get the next 2 batsmen out including the danger man (Joe Dinwoodie) who eventually was out for 52. The last wicket was a run out off an accurate throw from Majid and Redbourne were all out for 155 after 43 over.

Ricky are now second in Div 6a and looking good for promotion this year.
