Rickmansworth CC - 1st XI 246 - 132 Tewin CC - 1st XI

We are getting spoilt with all this sunshine! another cracking blue sky with hot sunshine greeted us, almost feels like summer from the 1980's :-)

Ricky welcomed Tewin for a top of the table clash, all the guys were really looking forward to this fixture especially as Tewin had put together a run of 7 straight wins! a run going back to when we last beat them.
Tewin won the toss and decided to bowl first which surprised Ricky skipper Maz Shah who really wanted to bat. Also it was an 11am start due to England playing Sweden in the quarter finals .

Maz and Murtaza Shehabi strode to the crease determined to dominate Tewin and put on a big total, to our surprise the Tewin skipper started with fielders on the boundary! clearly fearing Murtaza Shehabi would be in attack mode.

Maz decided to have a little look for an over before attacking the off-spinner Mohan who was bowling flighted deliveries which were very much to the skippers liking and having no regard for the fielders on the line, he pumped Mohan for a 6 and two 4's going along merrily to 29 off 25 balls until he played a complete brain fail shot! slog sweep! missed the ball...over balanced and was duly stumped. I can tell you very clearly ( cause i am writing the match report) the skipper was not happy with himself and knew that he had just thrown away a ton!

Shami joined Taz at the crease after the openers had put on 50 runs in 9 overs, shami and Taz slowly put on a partnership with Taz still playing his shots when he could, although he was getting frustrated at losing strike and maybe momentum which probably explains his rash stroke of running down teh wicket and missing the ball! Taz finished on 47 runs. Toqeer joined shambo at the crease but yet again the young talented 17 year old failed with the bat getting bowled for 9
Ibby Hanif joined shambo and put on a decent partnership of 56, ibby is slowly finding form and playing some elegant shots! but was the 3rd player to be stumped! for 21 , shami was out next over for 37 runs. This was not shami's most fluent innings and bigger things re exected from him but he did his best 166 - 5 looked ok but turned into 170-6 with Majid bowled for 1, most teams would naturally be worried at this stage especially with two 15 year old at the crease both on 0 but not this Ricky team. Tahir and Raunak took the score from 170 to 222 with some superb running and shot making, it was a delight to watch such young players with cool heads. Young Tahir in particular being severe on Tewin by hitting 5 fours to finish on 42! young raunak finished on 14. Cookie strode to the crease in confident mood having smashed 37 last week and ran tewin ragged as well as Usman!! cook finished on 13 not out and ricky finishing on 246 in 49.0 overs..

We then had a two break for football which England won!!!! #itscominghome

When the match got under way, Tewin would try to do what no other team had done so far and that was to chase down a total that we had put up. Magic man Majid opened with Toqeer and they were both on the mark! Especially Toqeer who took a wicket with his first ball and seconf ball! clean bowling both batsmen! The young 17 year old showing us all yet again why he is the leading wicket taker! pace, movement! he was just too good for Tewin by blowing their top and middle order away! reducing tewin to 29-4 before you could blink all four wickets going to Toqeer, Majid at the other end was doing his part by keeping things very tight so working well as a partnership as they have done all season.

It was now a question of how long before Tewin were knocked off for as Ricky tightened their grip! Usman Rai was making his debut for the 1's but showed he has plenty to offer with his pace an movement, hitting the Tewin Skipper around the hip area. Luke Wilde and Mohan Harihar tried to put up some resistance but it was more in the shape of trying to secure some batting points rather then win the match.

Toqeer finish on 5-28 but it was the young Tahir Hussain who nearly stole the show after his innings of 42 , the young pace man came on and got 3-11 off 4 overs. Normally its our spin twins that change the game but cook and mazafar were hardly used....

Tewin were all out for 132 for yet another comprehensive win for Rickmansworth

Ricky skipper said after the game " we were really up for this game as Tewin were on top of the division and the boys wanted to put in a good performance, what was produced was devastating and lifts us to the top of the table. These guys are capable of really scoring big runs and this is what i am looking forward to in the coming weeks"
