Defeat but one proud skipper

So with three defeats the last thing the skipper needed was Potten End a team that had scored over 300 runs in there previous games and new to the Herts league previously being in the Bucks Premier league.
Ricky hard what looked to be one if not the strongest three's team in a long time with Neel and Raunak playing their first games for Ricky this year. It started well for Ricky with the skipper winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the first over and infact first ball was to show Ricky what Potten End was all about with Opening Bowler Gurney sprinting in from almost the boundry to bowl to Owen who smashed the ball through covers, any other team any other game thats four, the fielder at full stretch dived to cut if off jumped back to his feet and threw a direct hit with Owen just making his ground (thank God the skipper does not run quick singles) in only the 5th over Ricky lost Matt (4) missing the yorker, and Owen (6) again being bowled and Ricky were 12-2 and already in a uphill battle, Mark and Raunak then played out 8 overs of really good bowling from Potten end one point they had 2 gullys silly mid on and 3 slips to young Raunak trying to tempt him to play outside his off stump. In the 13th over the breakthrough happened as a Shorter pitch delivery got to big and Raunak managed to pick put the only person on the leg side but battled really well for 5 Ricky then lost two more quick wickets Bilal(4) Mark (5) leaving us 27-5 and the top 5 batsman all scoring under 6, Adeel pushed down the order to try find some form came out the player we all know he is and with some clean ball striking pushed the score along, Dave (2) fell to a edge behind whilst being distracted by the Potten end chairman deciding to drive his Car behind the sightscreen was quite comical, Dave is it still too early ? : ). Ricky showed real fight with Adeel(13) Neel (12) Milner (11) and top scorer Ben Alnut(16*) pushing the score to 86 all out.
Ricky knew 86 was not enough for a team that has scored over 300 runs in both previous games but came out determined to give it everything. The opening pair played sensibly and ran hard pushing the score to 30 off the first 5 overs then the breakthrough Neel got the Potten End Skipper ct behind and then the number 3 without scoring leaving Potten End on 34-2 was the unthinkable on. Ricky kept pushing and Milner taking another wicket and much deserved (9-36-1) but the runs kept coming and for every wicket Ricky took it seemed and even better batsman came out and Potten end chased the score down in 18.1 overs, Ricky should of had another point as for the second week running a big edge not given but with only 4 needed would of made no difference to the score.
As skipper its now 4 defeats in 4 but proud of everyone as they gave 100% and thats all i can ask, im learning the hard way this captaincy lark is not the easiest, also like to Thank Potten end for the beer they brought me and actually being a nice bunch of guys, who were a lot stronger team then us
