RCC 104/5 v Boxmoor 94/8

With 5 games to go in the League, before the play-offs, every game is essential for Ricky. However without talisman Tahir, the team were concerned going into this vital game against a team who had beaten Chorleywood a few days before.

Ricky batted first and were disappointed to lose the inform Bilal for just one run in the 2nd over. Rahim was in next and though he didnt find the middle of the bat often, he scraped a valuable partnership with Yash which set Ricky up nicely. Yash in fact was batting superbly and after 13 overs Rahim was out and in strode Harvey. Except he got a fine ball first up and was castled. Two of Ricky's big hopes, Bilal and Harvey gone for a single between them. Tom also only scord 2 and Ricky were a on 71 after 14 and looking at maybe 85/90. However big Kinushan crashed a 4 and then a 6 in the next over and his fine 21 was enough to get Ricky beyond 90. Yash retired on a marvellous 40 not out and the rest of the innings fizzled out for just 104/5. They were big boundaries and so Ricky just had to bowl straight.

And this they did. Harvey was fired up and bowled fast and straight to bowl Alex in his first over and then Matthew in his 3rd. After 5 overs Boxmoor were 14/2 and already the scoring rate was up around 6. Yash and Bilal bowled well and also kept te scoring rate low, with Bilal getting another wicket. Then the remaining batsmen thought they should try and accelerate, needing 7.5 and over and Rory just bowled straight and took 3 wickets - one a stumping by Harvey of opening bat Ben for 17 who was set to bat through and a bowled and a caught. Boxmoor were now struggling and after 15 overs were 55/7, needing 50 to win off 5. Callum bowled a loose over of 14 and their hopes were raised, only to be dashed again when Kinusham bowled quickly and took 1-4 in his over. It was then just a procession as Ricky won by 10 runs.
