Intending to bowl first if winning the toss, Owen Blackwell was a little put out when West Herts won and put Ricky in. However, both he and Jiwan soon got the hang of the slow pitch. Runs started to flow but Owen went for 7 (bowled) and Jiwan for 9 looking for a big shot. Karan Soar did go big, hitting his first maximum of 6 on his way to 16 but when he left at 35/3 the game hung in the balance. But then Anaru cleverly milked the strike and the runs, whilst Jack Lee stood tall and punched the odd ball down the ground for 4. It was a partnership of 36 that ended with Anaru getting out for 26 to a good catch. Charlie and Tom both departed cheaply, but the scoreboard kept ticking over and Scott grabbed 7 off 6 balls at the end to take the score beyond 100, with Harvey for company. At the age of 10, Harvey Blackwell looked composed at the crease and is one to watch for the future.
West Herts did not score a run for 15 balls, by which time the game seemed to be over. Charlie Green got a wicket and went for just 7 runs in his 3 overs. and after 10 overs WHCC were 19 for 3 with Anaru getting 2 catches by Jack and Owen. Jack took another one handed stunner to dismiss Crane and it was only then that Zubair opened his shoulders and started clubbing every ball for 4. Too little too late.
Anaru got 3/18, Scott 1/5 off two overs and Jack and Karan returned to grab a wicket each. Young Raunak also bowled a tight line conceeding just 2 boundaries.
West Herts finished on 78/7 and were outplayed by Ricky in all departments.
