We all know about the orange hat which is awarded to the top run scorer in the IPL, well this year Rickmansworth CC will be having it’s own orange hat competition…..but with a twist.

Obviously top run-scorer is generally reserved for a minority of players, however there is no reason why each individual player can’t improve their own performance and excel with the bat on their own terms. In other words, this is a competition that anyone can win!

The new competition looks at the players average over the prior two seasons for each team that they have represented. This figure is then compared to the players current season average for that team to give an indication of their relative performance for the season.

There will be an individual competition for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI’s and also an overall club leaderboard to determine the ultimate orange hat winner for the season.

Word of the competition has leaked out, and consequently it has been kindly sponsored by Buffalo Cricket. To act as an extra incentive for everyone, the player leading the club leaderboard at the end of the season will be the proud recipient of a brand new Buffalo bat!

Results will be posted in the club and on Pitchero each week so that everyone can follow their individual progress and also that of all the players in the club.

Using completely made-up numbers for the current season average (I mean Shiv averaging 20…WTA?!), the attached illustration shows what the competition will look like.
