Having confirmed promotion the previous week, but with Chipperfield and Ickleford hot on their heels, the 1st XI had to score a win against Old Camdenians on Saturday to confirm winning the Division and going up in style.

Bowling first, Ricky Tom Bev continued his amazing form season with a couple of early wickets to slow Old Cams down, including the vital wicket of overseas star Elam for just 9. After this the spin twins of James and Azeem were able to go to work with their right/left combination going for a mid-innings spell of 20 overs for just 58 runs combined. Azeem picking up 2 vital wickets along the way. But Cams were nicely poised at 120 when captain May brought himself on and immediately crashed the OC's hopes. 4-24 was just reward for the potential player of the season May as he wheeled away sucking the life out of the Cam's team. A final score of 183 was daunting but very gettable proving someone got in on a small ground.

Step up Rameez, who produced one of the most breath-taking innings in a Ricky shirt. 13 boundaries and another 7 maximums were the highlights of 111 in just 65 balls. The OC bowling attack was put to the sword and though Billy (36) provided excellent support it has to be "Dar Day" for the hottest bat in town. Ricky cruised to a 5 wicket win with 20 overs to spare and the championship was secured.

Many congratulations to all the players who contributed to a memorable season for participants and spectators. Let's do it again in 2027 !

The 2nd XI fared less well against a Weston team bound for promotion themselves. A defeat by 236 runs may sound shocking and in truth it was rather one-way traffic. Nitish took 4-31 to take away something from the game, as well as 20 runs, but none of the others except Manan (26) could get into double-figures as Ricky folded in the chase.

The 3rd XI finished in mid-table thanks to a consummate victory that relegated Great Gaddesden. Hassan 37, Gaurav (46) and Hanu (31) all enjoyed mid-order runs, whilst Waheed contributed his usual run-a-ball knock at the end to take the team to 202/7. A catch for Viaan, playing with his Dad Snehal for the first time, started the fall of wickets and Rohan took 3 wickets amongst 7 other wicket takers as GG were bowled out for 102.

Leverstock Green beat Ricky 4ths by 80 runs after putting on a big score of 247. Ricky declined to give chase and held out for 167/3 after being 16/3 at one stage. A 151 partnership was impressive.

The 5th XI had a chance to secure a bonus promotion spot but failed to win a game they needed to secure. 29 for Graham and 31 by Vijay couldnt propel the team beyond a below-par 133. However the bowlers gave a damn good go and almost rescued a surprise win, reducing Harps to 115/8 (Rohan 4 wickets) befoer they crept over the line with 8 balls to spare.

And that was it. A wrap as they say. At no time did any team flirt with relegation and the 2nds and 5ths were close to promotion spots as well, at times, which bodes well for next year. Watch out for the awards evening when it is announced. There are a lot of top-performances to celebrate.
