This weekend, Paul Blackwell became Rickmansworth Cricket Club’s all-time leading run scorer, moving past the great Neil Burdett to take his place at the top of the club’s batting records.

It is a phenomenal batting achievement, built over decades of consistency, loyalty and sheer love for the game.

But Paul’s Rickmansworth story goes far beyond the scorebook. He has been central to the growth of the Youth Section, helping create the pathway that so many young players and families have benefited from over the years.

Many will also remember Paul as the voice of the club when Rickmansworth made national headlines after badgers destroyed the square — a reminder that his commitment has never just been about playing, but about standing up for the club whenever needed.

Today, though, we celebrate the runs, the innings, the years of dedication and a record that could not belong to a more deserving club man.
