good first game for all

Ricky's campaign begun with an exciting game against Chorleywood. Eshan and Clayton opened the batting and put on 18 runs with some great hitting and running. And no loss of wickets. Avi and Jospeh kept up the good form with 14 runs as a pair, Avi crashing a 4 off his first ball for the club. Well done Avi. And again - no wickets.

Reino and Stanley found the bowling harder to hit, but still lost no wickets in scoring 13 runs. Again some great running. And then Daniel and Lucas came into bat and were a little unlucky to score 10 runs but lose their wickets 3 times. And so Ricky finished on an aggregate score of 40/3

Daniel and Lucas bowled well, with Lucas getting his revenge with a wicket. Reino only conceded one run off his over and Chorleywood were 8/1 after 4 overs. Joseph and Eshan and Clayton also bowled tightly and Stanley also got a wicket. C/wood 22/2 at the halfway stage. An exciting game was brewing. All the time the Ricky fielders were trying so hard. In particular, Clayton ran well and threw even better; Avi was a safe pair of hands and Joseph stopped a bullet shot at one point.

The next set of 4 overs didnt go so well against the hitting of Charlie and Freddie, but Reino was especially unlucky as one of his deliveries crashed into the stumps but the bails didnt come off. "stuck on with glue" quipped Tony Hall. Chorleywood were now 37/2. The next over saw them reach 45 so they were ahead. But Clayton bowled a maiden and then Stanley took a wicket with his 2nd ball. A good catch by Eshan. The math was now that Ricky needed one more wicket to win. But it didnt happen. The batsmen kept their cool and kept him out.

Avi top scored with 8, whilst Eshan and Reino both got 5 each. Lucas took 1/3 in his two overs, Reino also only conceded 3 runs and should have got a wicket! Stanley was the best bowler with 2/7 in his 2 overs. Both teams bowled the same number of wides and no balls, so it was a very even contest. We hope to get revenge back at Ricky in June.
