RCC 113 v TPCC 105

Another day, and a rather cold one, as Ricky turned up with less than expected players for a match at Tring Park

Rickmansworth started disastrously with debutant Ian out to the first ball of the game. Harry smashed a boundary before getting out soon after and at 9/2 Ricky looked down and out. But Dom (25) our guest player struck some great boundaries before having to retire with the score on 66. Then calamity – Charlie, Archie and Adam all out for ducks. 74/5 and Ricky all at sea. But Max was still there holding up one end and scoring freely. In Dishan he found a willing partner and whilst Max smashed, Dishan stroked the ball, caressing it through the covers for sumptuous shots. The Rickmansworth Lara was still in when Max retired with 26 and the Dishan and Aryan took the score to 113, including 13 off the last 2 overs. Would it be enough ?

Dishan opened the bowling and got a wicket with his 6th ball. After some smashing shots by Tring Park, young Ian held onto a wonder catch in the deep to dismiss Dominic and Charlie then bowled Ollie for 21. Cedd came in and looked a step above, but he had to retire on 25 and this exposed the lower order. Dishan swopped his bowlers around, Harry took a smart stumping to dismiss Luca for 4. From needing 25 off 36 balls, Tring now needed 9 from the last 2 overs. But Dishan bowled Billy for 15 and the TPCC drive to win was lost. They scored just 7 runs in the last 6 overs to hand Ricky a famous victory.

Well done to Tring Park for their sporting attitude throughout and although it was a cold evening, it was a few excited boys who made their way back down the A41. A win for the boys at last.
