Ricky 1st XI 140 -3 (20.1) Beat Old Finchleians CC - 2nd XI 139 all out (43.2)

Ricky had won six games on the bounce and were looking to make it seven and secure their place at top of the division.
OF won the toss and decided to bat on a great looking wicket that the ricky lads really really wanted to bat on first bit it was not meant to be...

We opened up with Majid Khan and fiery Toqeer Hussain who has jumped to 21 league wickets already this season!

The pitch had some lovely pace and bounce in and movement both bowlers licking their lips and steaming in, Majid find his rhythm straight away and was asking the batsmen questions that they did not like! The corridor of uncertainty become the corridor of pain for OF as Majid probed away outside off ball after ball and got his reward by bowling the first batsman and having the second caught behind! the score was 10-2 and became 11-3 when Toqeer joined in the party and bowled the next batsman.
There was then a little partnership, slow but they were keeping the bowlers out, the tactic was not the best as 11-3 soon became 59-7! that is the problem with not scoring and rotating strike.

We then had a batsman who came out and decided to play a few shots which this ricky team always respect and he took the score to 118 and got a well made 50 in the process but the team were bowled out for 139 with Majid having fine figures of 3-15 and toqeer 3-26.

Ricky went about the chase in normal fashion and that was to attack the oppo with teh skipper hitting the first ball for a 4 but was then undone 3rd ball going for the same stroke but not accounting for the away swing and getting caught at gully!

This setback did not altar the ricky plans at all, shami after getting a dressing down for scoring too slowly last week came out like a man possessed and showed everyone that he can play some fast scoring cricket and went after the bowlers, Taz was doing the same at the other end. Shami in particular being severe on the spinners and hitting some big sixes , shami and Taz put on 115 for the second wicket and pretty much ended the game until shami played across the line and was LBW for a well made 57. This is the Shami we expect to see every week....

Taz finished on 47 and has now gone past 500 runs for the season, he too gave away his wicket which bought young Taheer and Toqeer to the crease who were both itching to finish the game and finish they did with Toqeer hotting a monster six and losing the ball!

The Skipper said after the game " What a fantastic team performance, the guys showed that they are hungry for runs and wickets and to stay top of the table. Shami deserves huge praise after he changed the way he accumulated runs and was good to see his response. That is now 7 wins in a row, we won to keep winning and playing entertaining cricket"
