1st XI 355-4(50) v Redbourn CC 2s 197-10(43.2)

Ricky arrived at redbourne looking forward to a good comptative game with 3rd placed Redbourne on what looked like a good batting wicket. The overcast conditions however placed some doubt in Captina Maz Shah's mind when deciding what to do at the toss.
Redbourne made this easy , as they won the toss and put us in to bat.

Maz and Taz make a steady cautious start and Maz was soon out with the score on 22. It looked as though Redbourne had made the correct decision putting us in, however after Shammi came to the crease, he and Taz, began to settle and play their shots.
The score raced along and by the time Shammi was out (For a well played 51) the score was already on 123. This brought young Toqs to the crease, he an Taz, continued to score freely.

Taz was eventually out on 81, another great batting display , taking his total runs scored this season so far to 752!
Captain Maz then decided that he would send in Majid Khan up the order to increase the scoring rate. Majid and Toqs now began to take the bowlers on and bounderies were flowing freely. The batting display was a pleasure to watch as it was not all big hits, but clever placement as well.

Toqs was eventually out on season best of 86 and the pair had put on a partnership of 130 in 12 overs!
With 3 overs to go Majid then with the help of Ibby, put on another 32 runs, with Majid finishing off on an unbeaten 89 and taking the total score to 355, a season best for the 1st XI

Top scores , Majid with 89*, Toqs 86, Taz 81, Shammi 51.

After Tea , Ricky went out to field filled with confidence and determination to make sure Rebourne would be beaten well.
Things got off to a good start with Tahir taking a great catch at gully of Toqs bowling, this was followed by another blinder of a catch , also at gully by Shammi off the bowling of Usman.

Redbourne were now 42 for 2 after 7. They now began to settle and started to look a little dangerous, so Maz called in the spinners to try and get a wicket. He was rewarded straight away with Mazzaf taking a wicket in his first over.

Cookie and Mazzaf now slowed the rate right down and the frustration started to show as wickets began to tumble. Majid also got a direct hit run out at one point .

Cookie eventually finishing on 5-26 , taking the 9th wicket in his last over. The skies were very dark and so Maz and Taz now continued to bowl some spin to try get the last wicket. Tahir was evenually brought on to take the final wicket . Redbourne could only manage 197 and Ricky won by 158 runs.

Great all round performance, batting, disciplined bowling and fielding.
