MOM - Majid Khan

Bessborough won the toss and decided to bat on a nice strip which was surprisingly hard for April. we started the bowling with the big fella Mashooq shah who was making is debut from one end and Waheed Mahroof from the other end, mashooq generated good pace and swing and in the first 2 overs find it hard to control the ball but by the 3rd over he his straps and clean bowled the opening batsman. Waheed kept things very quite from his end with a good discipline of line and length, he then produced one of the sharpest caught and bowled you will ever see! The middle order for Bessborough was solid and accumulating slowly; taking the score from 20-2 to 75-2 before Zaf shah was introduced and turned the game on its head by spinning the ball sharply and bamboozling the batsmen with his flight and change of pace, he produced figures of 3-25 but that does not tell the true story as we dropped 5 chances of him. Andy Milner (2-37)and Brendan Lyndsay bowled a good spell in tandem in the middle this was then backed up by a solid spell from majid khan (2-22)
We were set a decent total of 139 but in all honesty the wicket was more of a 220 par score so Maz Shah opened with Jason and maz showing that he was in good touch by driving the 3rd ball of the first over for a splendid boundry! Jason though fell for 1 run playing a ugly looking swipe and skying a catch. this introduced the old war horse razmond khan who seemed to be in good touch by moving to 5 runs but then played a horrible cross bat shot and was given LBW. Majid Khan came at number 4 and played a awesome innings by hitting the ball clean and showing everyone that he is the man to watch for 2013 he made a superb 45 which included two monster 6's and four 4's, he deserved a 50 for sure. Maz moved to 35 with some good strokes before being stumped but this only introduced another guy with huge talent! Kam shah who blazed 29 not out and took us home but it was the way he did, without taking too much risk yet putting the bad ball away!! with two monster sixes to his name, the skipper commented afte the game " this was a great team effort with everyone contributing something, there was some good intensity out there and the guys showed great character to finish the game in 30 overs"
