Bobby’s sizzling Century keeps Ricky in contention

On a boiling summers day the last words the team wanted to hear from skipper Kass was we are fielding, but unfortunately this was to be the case and what was the start of the bad luck Ricky would seem to have all day, On a pitch that you would describe as a road, and quick outfield 250-300 was always going to be PAR and a score we felt confident we could chase. Things started brightly with arguably the quickest opening bowlers in Div 7B Harry and Tom frightened the opening pair with their pace and bounce and Tom bursting through the two openers defenses for the first two wickets, Ricky were well on top and buoyant another potential repeat of last week on the cards, but OE are not top for nothing and their middle order all came in and scored runs on a track that was looking harder and harder to take wickets punishing any ball that was slightly too short/wide a couple of good partnerships and a tiring Ricky team providing extra runs with over throws and mis-fields helped push OE to a more than competitive score of 306 in 52 Overs Ricky did take 6 wickets in the end with Tom 3-78 Brett 2-65 and Harry 1-56 coming back on for second spells. Ricky did not stop trying throughout the 52 overs Kass trying different fields including fly slips deep 3rd man trying to get into OE’s tail end but was not to be and every edge dropped short or in vacant areas so 307 we would have to chase to win. After a rousing speech from the skipper 200 was our first target let’s get thier first and re-evaluate as what ever happened we did not want to lose and hand them 30 Points Bilal and Matt opened and with only 11 on the board were both back in the changing room both scoring 1, Matt Harshly given LBW to a ball going down leg, Now Raz and Bobby at the crease had to get the innings back on track and with patient stroke play both were both able to pass 50, but with slow bowlers on and field out the total of 300 was now 10 an over and 200 was the Ricky objective, Raz finally out for 60 C&B by the impressive Richardson returning for his second spell and a quick loss of Ricky wickets Kass second harsh LBW off the day and Kam both without troubling the score Ricky were suddenly under pressure with still 14 overs to bat and only 140 on the board, but with Bobby in sparkling form batting for over 3 hours with a great mixture of defense when needed and dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground when ever the OE batsman dropped short, and now in good company with Rory looking in no trouble at the other end Ricky moved to safety and moved to over 200 finishing on 213-5 and a high scoring draw
