It was more in hope than expectation that Ricky took to the field against Wheathampstead and so it proved as two interruptions for rain ensued before a wicket was to fall. Chris Hutch was given out lbw for 13 bringing the in-form Bobby to the wicket and he and Paul continued to plunder the relatively weakened opposition bowling and took advantage of a few dropped catches to move the score to 83 before Paul was bowled for 30. Raz was a little becalmed scoring 10 singles in a row before a mix-up in the middle saw Bobby and Raz stranded at the same end, and Bobby out for 48. Kamran smashed 27 in double-quick time but there was no chance of a result in the worsening weather and so stumps were drawn with Ricky on 139/3 after 34 overs. A score of perhaps 250 on a good day was possible, but the weather also meant every Ricky player was given one life so maybe honours were even in the end. Let's hope for more summery weather next week.
