Botany Bay CC - 1st XI 139 all out in 41 v Ricky 2nd XI 141 for 8 in 30.3

Ricky 2s were looking for their 5th straight win whilst hosting Botany Bay CC. The wicket looked green and Vice Captain (Raz is away) Kammy, decided that bowling first would be best. The oppo were also playing with just 10 men .

After winning the Toss, Ricky put Botany bay into bat. Waheed Mahroof got things rolling with a wicket off his first ball and Brett Harvey kept the score low with accurate bowling from the other end. The batsmen were playing defensively until Botany Bay opener, Sam Phillips, top edged one off Brett Harvey into his chin and had to go off for stitches.

Faizan Ahmed was then brought into the attack and the new batsmen looked very uncomfortable playing the spin eventually prodding one up, which a nimble Dave Cooper took running in from his position behind the stumps.

The score was now 97 for 3 (effectively 4 or even 5 with the injured bat). Next was a mini collapse of the Botany Bay batting order with 4 wickets falling for only 7 runs, Bobby Choudhry taking 3 of these and Ali Asgar Shah taking the other with some great bowling.

Bobby eventually finished his overs with figures of 10 over 2 maidens 20 runs 4 wickets.

Brett Harvey was then brought back on to finish off the last wicket, and after bowling the number 8, the injured opener returned (after stitches at A&E) . Lucky for Ricky the number 11 bat was facing and trapped LBW. Botany Bay were all out for 139, Bobby with 4 wickets, Brett with 2 and Ali Asgar, Faizan and Waheed each with 1.

After tea, Ricky were confident of a quick and easy win, unfortunately both openers were out with the score on 16. This brought Bobby Choudry and Waqas Chaudrey to the crease. They upped the tempo and the score raised along to 70 for 2 after 12 overs. things were looking like we could be done before drinks.

Then the Ricky batsmen started to fall , trying to hit big shots and getting caught. The run rate still continued well, but wickets kept falling. Waheed Mahroof came to the crease and stabilized things a bit and was eventually joined by Kamran Shah, and with 6 wickets down and about 40 needed, they began to build the innings again. Kammy eventually getting out when the score was on 130 and Waheed with the score on 135

This brought Faizan and Brett to the crease only needing 5 more to win, they played defensibly, taking a few singles and then Faizan hit a 4 to take us to victory.

Top scorers were Bobby Choudry with 33, Waqas Chaudrey for 21 , Kamran Shah for 26 and a hard worked 14 for Waheed Mahroof.
