Back to the Future

After 2 losses in a row, Ricky were looking to bounce back against relegation threatened Allenburys and it was a case of Back to 2019 as the Ricky 2nd team of old put on a sterling performance. A good base was built by Yusuf (12) and Stefan (22) before Yusuf's 9 lives ran out and somebody finally caught him. But with a foundation, Bobby is just the man you want and he racked up an authoritative 52 with a year-defining 41 from Raz at the other end. With wickets in hand and runs in the Bank Usman Rai (34) and Majid (16) had free reign to attack at will and soon 200 was up. A short cameo by Bill enabled Ricky to post our first score over 230 for some time.

With Majid and Usman bowling tightly, the pressure was building on Allenburys, and the change bowlers took advantage with wickets for the improving Tahir (3-11) and young Yusuf (2-22). Zaf also joined in with 3-38 and perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was Asad who turned from spinner to swinger and took the last 2 wickets with inswinging yorkers.

It was just like old times with the Ricky batters on top and the bowlers being capable and disciplined. A few more of these performances and we will be looking up and not down.
