Tail wags to give Hatfield win in 2nd team game

It was a dreadful start for Ricky as Paul and Yusuf were both back in the hutch after just 11 balls, with Yusuf particularly unlucky to be run out. Aamir (23) and Bobby (41) then repaired the damage and looked good until Aamir was given out caught behind. When Sohail went a couple of balls later, Ricky were once again up against it and trialist Mohammad then played on after what was perhaps the best cover drive of the day. 51 for 5 and Ricky were looking dead already.

The ever dependable Bobby was still in though and he and Usman stuck in and kept edging the score up. at 105/6 Bobby was caught behind, but now we had a small platform and cameos from Waheed (11) and Zaf (15) were enough to support the skipper in getting up to 150. A total to bowl at but not much more. Zaf was very unlucky to have two balls that were headed for a 6 get palmed to the floor on the boundary.

The new ball proved just as hard to play for the Hatfield top order and Aamir bowled two and Yusuf one, as they collapsed to 9/3. Welch hung in bravely but was eventually undone by another Aamir rocket and when Zaf enticed the number 6 to lob a catch up to Asad, the score was 73/6 and the game was there for the taking.

However this was not to be as Juvin James played as good as any number 8 could and struck boundaries all around the park. He went to a match winning 50 with ease and was well supported by Hasitha with 30. The more than doubled the score and won the game with a handful of overs to spare. Aamir took 4-13 in his 10 overs, but he was already bowled out and on his way home when the winning runs were struck.

A game Ricky would normally win, 9 times out of 10, but today it was Juvin James day in the calendar. Well played Juvin and Hasitha.
