OMCC is always a tricky wicket to bat on and despite Graham, Yash and Bilal all scoring 12, Ricky were floundering at 69/6, with only 10 players, when Hanaman strode to the wicket. He decided to take the fight to OMCC and smashed a quick-fire 32, however nobody stayed long enough with him and eventually he was left not out. Extras were the next top scorer with 23. Ricky made 112.
On the OMCC pitch that score is often enough, and so it seemed as Hanaman and Nasser bowled a tight first 8 overs for just 16 runs, and 2 wickets. Then 15 year old Yash started his 2018 campaign with 2 wickets in his first over of left arm pace, and OMCC were 25/4. After 17 overs the score was 71/6 and Tony had bowled danger man Akshan for 23. However the OMCC no8 called Ajay, who was clearly a cricketer as he bowled 8 overs for 8 runs earlier, copied Hanaman and crashed 33 runs before getting stumped by Trigger off Tony. The winning runs then came in a hurry and Ricky were unlucky losers by 2 wickets.
It was an excellent work out for the players and Ricky will hope for a different result when the league season begins next week
