Ricky 4s lose to strong Markyate team

After captain Neil lost the toss on a blazing hot day- thanks Neil we were put in the field.

After a few balls we soon came to realise we were no longer playing Markyate but a merged team mainly full of Luton town first 11 many of which were used to playing in the 3rd Division.

Rickmansworth started really poorly in the field and this did not change throughout the day. Although Hanuman provided a relatively early breakthrough with good bowling provided on the other end from Nasser, Luton town were still managing to smash us all over the park finding the gaps with ease but they were helped with poor fielding naming no names George and Hanuman.

Young boy Callum then came on to bowl and as like the other bowlers started off slow but eventually got his breakthrough with a brilliant ball. He took a further wicket, with Neil also adding to his tally. The keeper Richard Trigger McGill also kept in the action with a couple of sublime catches. However the opposition were too strong and kept smashing the ball to all parts. George surprisingly came on and after a few wides he got his rhythm and took 4 wickets finishing with 4 for 25 great effort in the end. Markyate 266 all out.

Rickmansworth opened with trigger and Hanuman but started very slow.

Something had to be done to up the ante and with a few blows Hanuman got a quick fire 16 however Luton with a first change bowler came with exceptional line and length and took a couple of quick wickets. Rickmansworth were in trouble.

Trigger kept a cool head and hit a couple of great fours whilst the wickets still tumbled.

Rickmansworth after 20 overs now were 70-5 with three of the top 5 getting 0.

A few moments later Trigger got out for a solid 36. Rushil however kept on going and was on for a 50 but ran out of people to bat with and was left 40 not out hitting 8 fours in the process. 7 batsman failed to register any runs all getting 0 something Rickmansworth boys have to take responsibility for.

Rickmansworth ended 145 all out off 35 overs

Under the circumstances it was a brilliant effort and was a decent performance against great opposition who should be at least division 3 in Hertfordshire.

Neil done well as captain. Nasser, Callum and George did great with bowling whilst Trigger and Rushil did great with batting.

Overall got some good points we just needed improving with our fielding. We are on the right track . Bring on next week!
