Having already witnessed many of these boys playing for the senior teams this year, it will come as no surprise to the adult members that our U15s started their campaign off with a big win last night.

Leverstock Green started brightly but were pegged back by a group of wickets around the 5th over stage. Three of them to catches by the new wunderkid Ollie Lightbourne behind the stumps. And two wickets for Josh Iveson as well. 45/4 in the 7th over. A stand of 32 was then brought to an end by a bowled by Kapoor and from 77/5 in the 12th over, Leverstock lost their way due to some tight bowling by Ricky to reach just 123 for 7. Monty took 2-12.

The Ricky reply was slowed by the loss of Aled for 2, but then Alec (22) and Keshav (33*) built a solid foundation of 55 when Alec got out in the 12th over. Ricky were behind on the run rate now needing 69 runs from 48 balls. But Ollie had clearly been watching the IPL and with his new found confidence from the senior games, he set about the tiring LGCC attack. 6 boundaries and 33 runs in just 19 balls meant Ricky were now flying. It was 28 needed off 30 balls when Ollie had to retire on 33 and so it was left to Josh (1) and primarily Alfie Jackson (10) to partner for 24 runs , helped by extras, to get the team over the line in the last over.

Thanks to the parents who went and supported and those who managed and umpired the team. Next week it's a home game on Thursday on the main square. Come and watch the spectacle.
