In a well spirited match, Captained by Joe Monk for the first time, the 5th XI recorded a good win against St Albans at Sandpit Lane.
The Ricky team bowled tightly, picking up valuable wickets to keep their opposition down to 181 in 35 overs. When Ricky batted, after the aberration of running his own son out for 9, Kevin Austin showed his class with a battling 66. It was then left to Harris and Qan (two borrowed players) to see Ricky home with 7 overs to spare.
Earlier, 15 year old Ethan Greenland, who only started playing Cricket in May, picked up 2 wickets and Joe, Josh Iveson, father Matt, (makes him sound like a vicar, but he is Josh's dad!) and, Kannadasen all grabbed a wicket each, whilst Father Matt also grabbed a handful of catches in the field.
A game played in a wonderful spirit with St Albans helping greatly to get the game on. Well done to all involved.
