Rickmansworth set a sub-par total of 141 all out in the first innings. Jason Phillipson (21) and Andy Bird (30) had a good start. Ken Brown (14), Callum Cusack (15) and Naveed Mahroof (16) contributed, but too many batsman were tempted into rash shots by Ruislip’s slow floating balls. A special mention goes to Jon Wood (5) who played on despite pulling a hamstring.
Ruislip’s reply also witnessed a steady fall of wickets until a ninth wicket stand of 49 saw the visitors home with an over to spare. Rickmansworth’s bowlers all had respectable figures, but were left defending too few runs. Matt Scales and Atul Patel opened well in their first Sunday game for the club. Matt, Callum and Jason picking up a wicket each and Sean Lindsay two.
Man of the Match goes to Tony MacDonald-Barker for his three wickets for 23 runs.
Overall the game went down to the wire and was played in a great spirit by both teams.
