Rickmansworth Sunday XI vs Old Fullerians

With Rickmansworth cc’s own Paul Blackwell opening the batting for Old Fullerians bowlers were queuing up for a crack. Everyone was given one over to try their luck and it was Ray Hibbert coming on as the eighth bowler who won the prize. At this point Paul decided to try and smash his off stump out of the ground rather than the ball.

Once Paul departed for 9 Fullerians opener Liam David proceeded to make the most of a good track to make 110 not out. Assisted by a quick 77 from M Burgess Fullerians set Rickmansworth 269 to win.

Before this there were wickets for Tony MacDonald-Barker (2), Ray Hibbert (1) and Tom Watson (1). Robin Willis bowled tightly for no luck and also pulled off the best catch to be seen at Rickmansworth for many years. Sprinting 20 meters to take a flying catch of a screaming ball while avoiding a loitering team mate.

Rickmansworth started their pursuit well with Fraser Paterson making a quick 53. Once he went the run rate and wickets started to fall. Robin Willis (13) and Adrian Green (12) offered some resistance. Captain Sean Lindsay (18) held up an end for 19 overs but fell for the last wicket with 141 on the board.

It was an enjoyable game with some friendly banter amongst some familiar faces with close links to the club.
