Owen Blackwell scored his 2nd half-century for the Club and was by far and away the best batsman on show as his 55 represented 70% of the runs scored off the bat as no other batsmen reached double-figures.
With Neel also opening the batting, Ricky probably had their youngest opening batting pair for many years, with a combined age of 34. However a few hangovers from a rather late celebration the night before meant that most of the Ricky big guns failed to fire and a total of 87 seemed possibly only half of what was required.
Curly and Rory bowled superbly with the new ball and both took 2 wickets each to reduce the home team to 46/4 at the tea break. Neel and Joe also kept in tight before young 13 year old Harvey Blackwell came on to bowl off-breaks and despite a 6 in his first over he came back to bowl out 2 batsmen for debut figures of 2-17 in his first adult game.
So it may have been Pelicans 1 Ricky 0 but the Blackwell brothers showed perhaps a little insight into the future of the club.
