Rickmansworth put together a very professional performance against a Northwood Town side brimming with talent from higher divisions. Matt Funge and Az Ali opened the bowling and kept it tight, whilst Phil Riddleston produced a number of balls that were simply unplayable. Rohan bowled a superb 24 straight balls for just 13 runs and Northwood were choked into a corner and unable to respond. Losing regular wickets (1 to every bowler) they struggled to post just 126, which was probably 20 too few.
And so it proved with Marty and Kasser putting on 67 in the first 10 overs without ever looking like getting out. The crowd were being royally entertained, by the Cricket and by Jon's burgers, and yet the fireworks were still to come. After a perfunctory look at the bowling Owen Blackwell decided to take on the shorter boundary and launched two successive balls for maximum's, the second one resulting in a ball lodged in the tree. A third shot went for 4 and Ricky went to the century after just 13 overs. Though Owen departed for 29, Marty helped himself to a handful more boundaries finishing on an unbeaten 43 to enable Ricky to win their first League 20:20 match.
Next week it's an away fixture against Northwood Town again.
